Garmin Etrex

Garmin Etrex

Postby RicKamila » Tue Sep 19, 2017 10:47 pm

Hi guys and gals

Im looking at buying a Garmin Etrex 20 or 25, maybe the 30 (pretty much all I can afford). Am I correct in saying that I can come on Walkhighlands and plot a map in the GPS planner and then upload it to the Etrex to follow out in the open?

Thanks.

Yes that's correct

Once you have downloaded the file you need to send it to your device. I use Basecamp Garmins own tool.

However you will need a map on the device itself. There are a number of options for that:

Garmin Maps

OS MAPS= expensive

Other maps based on Open Street Map----I use these on my device and have walked all over the UK with these

Simple answer is yes

There are a number of threads discussing uploading to Garmin devices & the use of Basecamp or other software to do this

Thanks guys

The one I'm looking at comes with a map pack. Might head in to a shop and have a look at all three.

Cheers
