A couple of Southern Shorties

A quick walk shoehorned in with dropping our daughter off at Lancaster Uni for a residential course on cyber security. The weather was due to be a little showery but in direct contrast with my walk over High Stile a few days earlier the forecast was wrong in a positive way this time as it turned out to be a beautiful summers day in Lakeland.

I can't really remember too much about the day only that it was largely uneventful and pleasant. I can't even remember just why we needed to be home quite sharpish meaning we just did a couple of there and backs rather than turning it into a circular which would have been a far superior walk. Dispite the lack of photographic evidence, Hughie and Nicola were present but both seemed none too keen on posing unlike the Langdale Pikes which hogged the limelight in their typical photogenic way. The superb photos more than made up for the lack of narrative JK of these two small but fine hills I tend to think that the lower fells hand out better photo opportunities than some of the giants offer plus I also think that these lower fells are greatly under estimated by many walkers whose sights are set firmly on the 'big 'uns'

Have to agree with what Trailmasher says about these lower fells. Really well-composed photos with interesting foregrounds, dramatic skies, nice waterfalls and some colourful heather! Cracking
