Get down to my last 50 Munro's (44 to that point)
Get at least one of Fisherfield, Mullardoch or Skye done
Summit camp

Not really asking for much :D

Down to my final 38 Munro's.
Done Mullardoch & half of Fisherfield
Never got to Skye this year or managed a summit camp

If I can count correctly, I've got 35 Wainwrights on my list for the year - 28 Western and 7 Northwestern (and then I'll be into my second last book, which is a bit of an odd feeling). Plus a few odd Outlying ones!

I also really want to have a trip to somewhere else in England - the Howgills or Yorkshire Dales or even the Peak District.

I'm not sure about setting a number on Munros, because I never seem to climb any anyway, but I don't want to do none. Maybe I'll set the target at 5!

Hopefully at least 10 Donalds - a cluster of 9 round Moffat, and whatever else takes my fancy.

I suppose I might as well list these last two Pentland Marilyns!

I'd like to get to a part of Scotland where I've never been before - hopefully the Cairngorms, but maybe Skye as well (where I have been but not to the hills) since I'm thinking of going to a summer school course at Sabhal Mor Ostaig.

I'm planning to walk the Cleveland Way in April - maybe I'll finally get round to the Berwickshire Coast Path as well, or start heading north on the Fife Coast Path.

Only 24 Wainwrights done, mostly due to bad weather - the three down towards Nether Wasdale seem to be my nemesis. 7 Outlying Fells - 4 on a January trip to the south, and 3 on the way in to the far West. 3 English Marilyns in the North Yorkshire Moors, but mostly incidental to the Cleveland Way, so that doesn't really count as my other area.

No Donalds, because I never did make it to Moffat. Only 1 Munro, but 2 Corbetts and 2 Grahams, which weren't on my list - I have no idea how that happens!

Only 1 of the Pentland Marilyns, but one further down in the Clyde valley and 2 in the Borders.

I made it to Skye, but only to the Storr (and Dun Caan) - nothing further south.

I did the Cleveland Way, which I loved, and then tagged on the Berwickshire Coast Path right at the end of the year - also very enjoyable.

So not very successful in numbers, but never mind, I enjoyed it :-)

After that I don't have any plans or ambitions, will probably be back on the Munro trail with the occasional Corbett thrown in

Partially successful, in fact make that completely - completed the Donalds on what was one the hardest days on the hills, very hot day on Mullawachar. Loved the Donalds and will be returning.

The weather and family commitments have reduced my number of outings, in fact almost halved.
Am about to get new boots (from Santa) so they will need to get a good work out.

Surely to goodness in 2017 I can manage the final 4 Munros, as well as the handful of Donalds, New Donalds and Donald tops

Beyond that, just enjoy the hills and see how many Corbetts, Grahams and sub 2000s I can visit :D

    - managed just the 1 Munro in 2017    , so I still have the small matter of the 3 that still remain for 2018

That abject failure to one side, I did manage a fair few Corbetts and Grahams (probably not enough though really), compleated the Donalds :D (bagging my first English Hewitt at the same time) and got fair stuck in to the sub 2000 Marilyns

So same plan as for the last four years: at least one hill of any description per month.

Accidentally climbed a Munro in January but otherwise successfully stuck to my modest plan of at least one bump per month though that was slightly in peril in June following a football injury.

"The plan this year is to complete the Welsh and English Hewitts and the Wainwrights.

Also to improve on last year's total of 3 Munros."

I finished the Hewitts and Wainwrights, although I didn't manage to get to the top of the Howitzer.

Also did 8 Munros

No particular goals in 2017 other than to enjoy unfamiliar hills, which I was able to do. Almost all my hillwalking was in the North Pennines which meant bleakness and bog, but there were some highlights despite circumventing peat hags. Dead Stones was probably the most delightful summit, Great Dun Fell the most unusual. I now find myself with the same number of Welsh and English Hewitts under my belt (136), and while it would be nice to climb the remaining 44, this is more likely to happen in 2019 than in 2018. I am purposely leaving some of the best to the end, notably Fairfield, Catstye Cam and High Street, and my last one will be Great Knoutberry Hill.

Brilliant, managed all the summits I wanted ; including The Grey Corries, The Ring of Steall, all of Glen Shiel, Bidean and Aonach Eagach.
Never managed to get across CMD arete to The Ben.
Taught myself more to head back when the conditions get too dodgy and in some cases not to even get out the car!

Roll on heading further north next year and my first visit to Skye.
Safe walking and climbing folks.

I know I will never finish the Marilyns because of the St. Kilda sea stacks, but having done 1515/1557, I think I am within spitting distance of doing the rest, which would be nice. Some are hideously complicated to get at, and at least one is now beyond me unless we drag in a tent, so not a foregone conclusion.

Stayed this side of the grass

Got Marilyns total up to 1545 including some Welsh 3000-ers. Was beginning to wonder if I'd get altitude sickness if I poked my head above Munro height again. Being 78 instead of 77 this year, the St. Kilda sea stacks are as elusive as ever. Pabbay and Taransay are planned...we just need to drag a tent into Pairc on Lewis for the remaining three.... or wait for them to build the threatened wind farm and cycle in, but that awaits a connecting cable to Skye. Unlikely.
