Hello from Australia!

Hi folks!

I'm Liz from Victoria, Australia and I'm coming to visit in July! My ideal hike is a solo overnighter in temperate rainforest with my dog. Thanks very much for access to this wonderful website and community. See you on the hills in July and thanks for the resources!

Cheers,

Liz

We've got rain, and we've got forests....but rainforests  Hope you have a great time when you get here.

G'Day Sheila! I have waltzed me matilda all over Oz, back in Dear Old Blighty for some years now. I would recommend spending time in the Cairngorms, where we have forest and it will probably rain. Other nice places are Glen Coe, Appin, Knoydart, Moidart, Skye, Mull, oh... er, just anywhere really. Rejoice that we lack the plethora of deadly creatures found in Oz, but we do have a wee snake, the adder, a member of the viper family which can spoil your day so be aware of them. The weather is more likely to kill you, so be prepared. Welcome to Scotland!

Hope you enjoy your time in Scotland. I reckon some of the deciduous woodlands along the west coast - e.g. in Glen Nevis gorge - would be classified as temperate rainforest! :)
