hello walkers,
after our hugely enjoyable turn on Raasay last month (
https://www.walkhighlands.co.uk/Forum/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=78071) i'm getting into serious walking on a regular basis, 75-100 km per week out in the Pentlands and so forth. and that has got me thinking of a GPS unit, something like the Garmin GPSMAPS 64s/st or suchlike.
thus far i have been using 1:25k paper maps and enjoying the details and accuracy but i see that getting maps of that resolution on the Garmin via Garmin or OS is atrociously expensive.
is that just the way things are or is there a frugal man's way to go about this?
if needs be i'll just stick with GPS and a good paper map but i thought i'd ask in case there's a good option i've overlooked.
