After a short stretch along the beautiful River Tweed, the trail takes a complex path on the valley slopes above Galashiels. After climbing over an intervening hiil, there is a scenic ridge walk through forests and over high moorland hills to Traquair.
Melrose to TraquairPlease watch the video for a guided tour of the trail.
I cover the next 18 miles between the Eildon Hills, above Melrose and Minch Moor, above Traquair, making some new sheepish friends along the way. I re-supply at Melrose and Galashiels and pass through Tweedbank before the big climb towards Minch Moor where I set up camp at a familiar spot on the Southern Upland Way.
