Previously traversed these 3 Corbetts in winter with friends, a much shorter route starting with an ascent of An Stac. Today I chose the longer route as described on this site. Much like before the wind was pretty ferocious, at times I found it difficult to keep on my feet! However plenty opportunities for respite and views to the Western Isles 8)

The drive took over 3 hrs, so I started the walk around noon. apart from the first kilometere most of the walk was pathless, rugged, and challenging...but a challenge is good :D Being running lots recently so the legs felt pretty good and wasn't overly taxing on my energy levels.

I chose this route for solitude, peace and quiet. I was fortunate enough not to see anyone else for all of the walk :)

Cutting through a field at the start.

Getting higher, views over to An Stac which is the final corbett on this route.

Its quiet a distance to reach the top of Druim Fiaclach but worth it for the views of the 3 corbetts that lie in wait.

Timer issues

Stunning ridge walk heading towards the first Corbett Summit

Looking Back

After a few hours I reached the first summit :)
Image

Didn't hang about due to high winds so haeaded to the bealach and dumped my rucksack, then ran up to the summit of Ross Bheinn.

Bealach, and looking back to Druim Fiaclach in the far distance.

Views opening up to Western Isles, albeit a bit hazy

Didn't take long before reaching the 2nd Corbett Summit

Ran back down to the bealach. From here it was a steep descent before starting the acent to An Stac, the final Corbett.

Wasn't as steep as looked from a distance and I was soon at the summit. Didn't hang around, just time for a photo of the West Coast

The West Coast

Its a steep craggy pathless descent for most of the way until reaching the ATV track which leads you back to the start. Missed the cut off through the field but enjoyed the alternative route via the river :)

Back to the car just before darkness fell. I set off home at 9pm and arrived in Glasgow about midnight. A great day out :)

A new one on me, and looks wonderful - one for the to-do list! Great weather you had for it too.

Don't pay any attention to malky - it's shorts only, or nothing for him (see the pics of the July WH Meet in the scrapbook that Jelena just posted if you're in any doubt on this.... :D ).
