This is my first report as someone returning to hillwalking after 30 year break - normally I would have waited a little longer before sticking my head above the parapet, but I had to share this one! Rather than write a lot of words, I'll let the photos do the talking..
I was late arriving at the car park, and fortunately someone left just as I was exploring the last line of cars, so thank you white Honda!
The sky was clear, I'd paid my £2, so time to get cracking - I put my head down and started up the well-worn path.
Eventually I got to the snow line, at which point it dawned on me to get out my phone and take a few (or should it be phew - ok, no more puns) photos..
- Looking north from the ridge west of Beinn Ghlas towards Glen Lyon
- Looking east towards the ridge between Beinn Ghlas and Ben Lawers
I then carried on to the summit of Ben Lawers, to be rewarded with spectacular views - such a contrast to my previous ascent some 33 years ago which even now I remember as unrelentingly cloudy & damp..
- Looking south over Beinn Ghlas (and me)
- East over Loch Tay from Ben Lawers
- North east to Lochan nan Cat
- East, past a snowy trig point
- South again over Beinn Ghlass - sun starting to get a tad low..
- Yep, definitely low..
- Ok, one more..
After that one I really had to step on it, over to Beinn Ghlas and finally arriving back at the car park at 17:15, tired but very happy!
