The sub 2000 Marilyn Cruach nan Caorach 458m (1,503') can be approached from the north at the high point on hair-raising single track road from Lephinkill farm in Glendaruel over to Otter Ferry with steep hills, hair-pin bends, blind corners and hardly any passing places. At least the 44 ton loaded log lorries have to extract via the forestry track exiting onto A8003 south of Waulkmill. Note the OS map of forestry track entrance start point is not replicated exactly on the ground - it is about 100m out. After passing below 2 sets of overhead power lines, the left fork curving round the east side of Cruach Tarbh soon reveals the Cruach nan Caorach 458m - Cruach nam Broighleag 416m ridge on skyline as the ongoing logging has cleared thousands of trees. The track drops from 320m to almost 240m then rises to a junction at 260m, The left fork leads shortly to the fire break following the steep sided Cam Allt with a deer path going up it's left side to a stock fence at top of forest which can just about be stepped over (no barbed top wire). An avoidable short detour left can take in Cruach Camuillt 345m. Once past the right angle bend in Cam Allt it is SE to Cruach nan Caorach whose summit 458m trig is hidden initially behind it's NW shoulder (1hr to firebreak then 1 & 1/4hr to top 3.5km). Return by ascent route. Started at 1pm having climbed Creachan Dubh in morning; got back to car 5pm and down scary road before darkness ensued :D
