Can I have a 'P' please Bob - Scotland

AAK is possibly Alloway Auld Kirk, site of the witches dance in Tam o'Shanter and therein is reference to a cutty sark, CS, though I don't see the other connections.

Alloway Auld Kirk is the burns Museum, and the Cutty Sark is referenced in Burns' Tam o' Shanter, so I think CharlesT has got it. Very timely question and could have taken us to Burns night (25th)

Burns calls it 'Kirk Alloway' in the poem - "Kirk Alloway was drawing nigh", a bit of poetic word-play.

The Railway Bridge was the bridge over the A8 at Bargeddie. It had an advertising hoarding for Cutty Sark whisky for many years, and will no doubt be known as the Cutty Sark bridge for many more years.

Your turn!

Didn't really deserve that, never driven the A8 to my knowledge.

However, here goes. A RSC produced more red faces than enlightenment.

I suppose the 1* reviews on Trip Advisor for the Royal Scots Club are a terrible embarasment...but as they are eclipsed by the other sort, I doubt if this is the answer?

Not the Royal Scots Club, nor the Royal Shakespeare Company, before you try that one.

Their type are peculiar to Scotland and localised to one area.

Then that rules out the Rangers Supporters Club too.

I couldn't possibly comment. :D, but yes, you can rule them out.

In this case I found the honest and good-humoured admission of a mistake rather refreshing.

It's a nice thing anyway.

Enlightenment as in illumination or as in the cultural explosion of the 18th and 19th centuries? The Darien Scheme was an embarrassment and it was sponsored by the Royal Scottish Company or something like that?

No, not the Scottish enlightenment nor the Darien scheme.

This is modern(ish) yet appeared ancient and a rather nice chap had an ooops! moment.

A bit like the current news about the Leochel Cushnie stone circle then.

"A bit like" meaning that's what it is then? There are lots of RSCs in Aberdeenshire and they have a particular characteristic beginning with R.

That would be a Recumbent Stone Circle.

The recent amusing story in the press regarding the one at Cushnie.

Plenty of them round my way.

Rohan got it though, I think.

Correct, agree that Rohan was there and I was just teasing for the full answer.

Over to Rohan.
