A great forecast for this day and the next two, but we were committed on the previous evening so could not position ourselves further north. We chose Fiarach as a suitable hill to bag en-route. Easy walking, we started from Dalrigh, followed the track to the wood.

Good views of Beinn Dorain across a lovely pine forest.
We followed an ATV track up to easier ground.

Ben Dorain again and snowy peaks beyond
We probably followed the ATV track a bit too far, then struck uphill, passing a nameless lochan.

Ben More and Stobinian just showing
We approached the summit on a little 'ridge', which stuck out from the surrounding plateau. Lunch at the top, then returning past Lochan Fiarach where we played with reflections for a while,

Ben Lui peeping from behind Ben Dubhcraig

Back towards the summit
before taking a slightly more direct line back to the track.
I wonder how many hills there are that you can walk into a cafe on the way back? The day has to be short enough that the cafe is still open. Fiarach scores well here, with the Artisan Cafe in a converted church a very short distance off-route from the bridge.
Here is our approximate route.

Nice report! But the crucial question is: are the cakes any good? We've never managed to make it there before it shuts (we carried on from Fiarach onto Beinn Dubhcraig, but I wouldn't really recommend it....).

Yes, can recommend the cakes, wouldn't have mentioned the cafe otherwise! We've not been before either - it closes at 4.

Last climbed this last autumn to celebrate a Full House completion of a friend

In attendance (if she counted correctly)

- 56 people
- 10 dogs
- 49 Munro completers
- 3 doctors, 3 nurses and 5 Mountain Rescue team members
- 1 Everest summiteer

It's a lovely wee hill, and we also like the cafe even if it does keep stupid hours, but so do most cafes. Daughter and I used to go on cycling holidays.Touring cyclists need regular food and we would approach a small town with one cafe and one pub. The former would close at 4 or 5 if you were lucky, and the latter closed for the afternoon and wouldn't open again until 6. Boo.

Just have to mention a cafe and I start to get replies to my posts

That was some completion that you attended, what fun. Fiarach would be a good accessible hill for a completion but it's no good thinking that now that we have bagged it. Not that we are thinking about this yet.
Cycling is often what we are doing outside when not bagging Grahams. Our best cafe cycle tour was on the west coast of France - though it was ices we were looking for then.
