We had been looking forward to this walk since we came up to the Cairngorms as we had heard it was a very beautiful Glen. We had wondered about using the bikes, but reports of the path having been washed away put us off. We needn't have worried as they have done some repair and we could have got the bikes past the difficulties without to much gymnastics

So we started out from the carpark and it was a good decision as we got to really appreciate the Glen :D

It was easy crossing all the burns as we had such dry fine weather, absolutely glorious :)

The path was really excellent for most of the way. :)

Here is one of Pathfinderpaul having time to stop and stare :D

We even had time to stop and see the wildlife, which we would have missed on the bikes.

How about this for a foxglove

Having enjoyed the Glen the hill came into view. We met a couple of guys who told us how brilliant the refurbished Bothy was , they'd been in there for three days, perhaps another time, when just site seeing.

Tree line goes quite a way up the hill which is what they are trying to achieve here with the reforestation.

Eventually we ran out of trees and just had the bare hillside, but we missed the shade as it was hot

The summit wasn't much to look at

Just the walk back, bit cooler going down and the forest to look forward to.

A really great day out

In terms of modest summit cairns, Mullach Clach a' Bhlair must be in the top 10! The wide views make up for it though :D I too enjoyed Coille an Torr, it's a very fine wood.

The moth looks like a female Northern, or Oak, Eggar in case you'd not identified it.

A nice find.

Thanks for the identification of the moth, it looked a great specimen. The forest was a real revelation.
