ES dwelt at W and may have supped at what is now SF.

ES is now remembered by a different sort of vessel.

There were two historical ES's. The one I have in mind met an unusual end, ultimately brought down by his vanquished adversary.

ES's adversary was known as MT, on account of a malformed feature, which, post mortem, did for ES.

Feels like one has landed in Outer Mongolia doesn't it. Have become wholly dependent upon it in such a short time, got really and irrationally cross when my Googlepay app on my phone stopped working recently, only to realise it was my fault, having replaced the battery (wherein lies the NFC aerial I discovered eventually) which the aftermarket battery didn't contain - a lesson there.

Hope you are back on soon, you need it to answer this one.

Apologies for starting this thread up again. I really enjoy it (and the other quizzes) but they are taking up far too much of my time so I am unsubscribing from all the threads I have subscribed to. One of the tasks I need to get on with is making a breakout game for my grandson, It is really enjoyable setting the scenario and working on cryptic puzzles that he and his buddies have to solve. He is very keen on drama (unlike his big sister he is very much into indoor activities) so I am developing one scenario around Assipattle and the Stoor Worm (complete with props) . It has all the elements needed for a breakout game so works really well. Thank-you Charles for introducing me to the legend.

Sorry to see you go, having returned myself from a self-imposed absence for similar reasons of time absorption.

The tale is somewhat similar to that of Herakles and Hesione, though that is within the wider contextual framework of Greek mythology, which I never tire of. Got some strange looks when re-reading The Illiad during a Munro bagging trip.

Are you going to include the sacrificial offerings of virgins in your game, or is that a bit too racy.

Seems more help is needed.

We are again on an island of which ES is held to be the first so called. Rather neatly personally named SE. Later carrying the epithet TM.

This meant to say the first E of and he was E of O and his dwelling stood on R. Dwelling here is a somewhat loose description as it fulfilled other purposes besides.

Yes, I'm having to work quite hard to get this one solved, so pleased you're back.

I have him as Sigurd Eistenson, became Earl Sigurd, first Earl of Orkney. Known as Sigurd the Mighty, whose mead hall has been discovered at Westness on Rousay. You can find the rest by hunting around. Your go.

Hope this might encourage other people back to replace rohan

P. was discovered by someone to whom it later gave its name
