I just wanted to add a few points to the reports already written. This is for the Glen Dochart approach to Meall Glas/Sgiath Chuill
First, there is space for 4 cars - 5 if they are well parked - on the side road up to Auchessan. I'm not sure they would take kindly to your parking by the bins, as suggested in another report. It's grassy and I think you might churn it up.
Secondly, although the weather had been exceptionally wet in the recent past, the going was not as boggy as I had been fearing. A few peat hags, nothing to really hold you up and the occasional burn we had to jump was no problem.
Finally, although it is a steep pull up both of these hills, the grass is well interspersed with other vegetation, so it was quite grippy and I never worried that I might slip and fall. It was just hard work, not worrying.
Took us 7 1/2 hours including stops, on a fine day; we're not fast.
Warning
Please note that hillwalking when there is snow lying requires an ice-axe, crampons and the knowledge, experience and skill to use them correctly. Summer routes may not be viable or appropriate in winter. See winter information on our skills and safety pages for more information.
