Wasn't bad at all two weeks ago despite not being overly windy. Can't have got any worse. Couple of frosty mornings possibly this week too.

Was in Laide until ten days ago. The midges had been awful. However my daughter left there three days ago and they had been getting better. Should be pretty near to the end of the season by now

The problem is, as you probably know, the distribution of the little bitey dears is very local - no more than a few yards away and it can be the difference between a pleasant day and wishing they had sucked all the blood out of you and you had died.

Therefore the following is possibly/probably useless but I am in Gairloch. I spent about 2 -3 hours this afternoon strimming and I was there were midges at all.

I was well pleased.

Wish I could type and also read what I had typed.

What I meant to say was there were no midges at all.

Heading that way myself, my mate at Forest Way B&B & Bunkhouse up the road in Lael said there's no midges. 8)
