Every passing place and layby from Struan to that particular layby has a no parking sign as per my photo.

I returned to the A9 the same way, so I can't comment on the rest of the road.

Yes, I wasn't questioning your info just that I didn't notice it. Perthshire has been going a bit doolally in response to some dodgy parking since initial lockdown easing, but I'm thinking now, the signs you mention predates that.

No, I didn’t notice till I parked up. I then noticed driving back out that every passing place and layby was the same. It seems a bit OTT.

If there have been issues, then maybe the council should invest in a few decent laybys.

Perhaps the no parking signs are a relic from all the heavy traffic when work was done on the super pylon project?

Presumably one can park there nae bother?

Yes: we used the car park next to the river about 0.5km E of the village, but there is also plenty of space in the village itself.

Same situation for start of Stob an Aonaich Mhor. Walkhighlands mentions parking where the private road meets the main road but the area is now all blocked with boulders. Parked in the car park 1km East. Was doing a circular with Bheinn Mholach so worked out okay in the end.

Does feel heavy handed this, seems to have been done without consulting any outdoor bodies. It does seem ignorant of anyone climbing these hills. Anyone know if Mountaineering Scotland looked into this?

The sign was there last November.

I just assumed that it was a generic no parking sign for a passing place but as there's sufficient room not to obstruct it I ignored it and did the full circuit

That sounds logical as the last time I passed it was in full flow. When I originally did the Corbett (1998/9) all the passing place signs were actually on the deck or missing.

Write to Perth and Kinross Council about the worry and consternation caused by their Sledgehammer to Crack a Nut approach to a few days of crazy parking.

They have literally outlawed parking on verges across 60 miles of Highland Perthshire roads without any thought as to how anyone who has an interest in walking or study, or any other legitimate outdoor activity is going to safely park their car.

It's a bl**dy disgrace!

From what I can see of the notice, it only mentions no parking in the passing place, which seems fair enough. The grass and anything else off the tarmac should be ok to park on, providing the gateways aren't blocked. It seems to me that maybe a few locals have found that a few cars have obstructed the road at times and complained to the council, who have put up the signs everywhere. It would be interesting to see if the Council have actually gone through the correct legal process before erecting these signs, because if they haven't, they mean nothing and are unenforceable. They would have had to have displayed on site, notices of their intention to do this and invite any objections from members of the public. My guess is they didn't.

My understanding is that the grass verges are verboten too...irrespective of whether an obstruction is caused. Glen Lyon Carn Mairg parking should be a hoot!

As we understand it, this is not within the new clearway Perthshire restrictions.

That sign was not there a year ago, nor any passing place sign. The sign does not look professionally erected.

We have raised with Mountaineering Scotland, given the lack of parking in the area.

I think it is, although PKC have listed it as the A487 (which is Wales), because they don't know where they are.

Yes, there are restrictions on that road, but only from Calvine to Trinafour, which does not include this section.
