Talkytoaster makes maps from Open Street Map data. Open Street Map is a 'crowdsourced' project where thousands of people contribute data about roads, paths, streams, forests etc. In most popular areas it is up to date and comprehensive with more data (shops, points of interest) than other maps. But there are less popular areas where many items are missing. This is especially true of smaller features such as copses and brooks. The Ordnance Survey cover the whole country to a great level of detail and much of the is reflected in their free OpenData too.
It is not relevant to Scotland, but OpenStreetMap does not usually record Public Rights of Way as such.
