Ok, I'll give it you. Heddle had a LIST of mountains which he handed on to Hugh Munro when he was tasked with finding out how many there were. Heddle had been everywhere, and climbed everything, and his list was supposed to have been very useful to Munro in the compilation of HIS list, and part of the reason Munro got it done so speedily. However, Heddle's list does not seem to have survived. We hoped that when we moved into this house once owned by his eccentric daughter Katy, it might be stuffed away behind a rafter, but no luck. If Heddle hadn't been so busy with his "Mineralogy of Scotland" it could have been the Heddles we climbed now, and not the Munros.
