Brilliant Day on the White Mounth Round

An 8am start to the walk today, slightly later than I had planned, and it was a cloudy start but the forecast was looking great for later in the morning.

Off I go on the White Mounth circuit, long day ahead!

It was a good walk on decent paths to the first Munro, Lochnagar. Before heading to that summit though I decided to climb the neighbouring Munro Top, Meikle Pap. Anyone who hasn’t done this route yet I would highly recommend climbing up to the top of Meikle Pap and looking back over to Lochnagar, you won’t regret it!

After enjoying those views it was time to head for the summit of Lochnagar, making a quick detour along the way to visit Cuidhe Crom, another Munro Top.

That little bit of snow before the summit was pretty deep in places.

Time to start making my way to Munro number 2, Càrn a’ Choire Bhoidheach. It was a very easy and straightforward walk to what was a pretty unremarkable summit.

I didn’t stay on that second Munro for very long, it was off to number three, Càrn an t-Sagairt Mòr. I had to trudge through a large bank of snow on the steep descent, and the lower path between the two Munros was very boggy in places.

It was another very easy walk from Càrn an t-Sagairt Mòr to the fourth Munro, Cairn Bannoch with its rocky summit.

Unusual stone. It appears to be an ‘M’ or maybe a ‘W’ carved into it.

The walk from Cairn Bannoch to the final Munro, Broad Cairn, meant crossing over another Munro Top called Cairn of Gowal. The views from Broad Cairn are excellent all round, and you also see just how long the walk back to the start was to be.

The descent from Broad Cairn is a boulder field to begin with but soon reaches a well constructed path that leads all the way back to the start. It is a very long trek back though. Thankfully the views down Loch Muick are superb all the way. The perfect end to a brilliant day!

Someone’s fancy hoose!

I arrived back at the car at 5pm which made it exactly 9 hours for the round trip. This was a fantastic walk which I highly recommend to those who haven’t done it. It is worth it just for the view of Lochnagar from the top of Meikle Pap. Five Munros in the bag, great day

Hahaha I had thought it was Royal but I wasn’t sure Aye the weather was perfect yesterday, a great day all round
