Merrell Intercept walking shoe - repair advice

Merrell Intercept walking shoe - repair advice

Postby Spunge » Wed Jul 21, 2021 10:53 am

I have acquired a small rip beside the front toe cap of the shoe, otherwise both shoes are in good condition and it would be a shame to throw them away. Would anyone have any tips on a repair of sorts. Photo included.

Sugru?
It's a mouldable epoxy rubber compound that might work on something like that.

Try Shoe Goo, from a tube, either clear or black.

Another vote for shoe goo. Sealants like Sikaflex designed for DIY and building use can also be used for repair jobs like this.

In my experience shoes are never going to be or look "good as new" after attempting DIY repairs on damage like this but you'll certainly get a bit more life out of them. I tend to have my newest boots kept aside for actual hill walking where boot condition matters more and my older ones with glued up holes etc for more local or low level walks where a hole in a shoe isn't going to be a big deal.
