Certainly - as Mal says - a more attractive and (by the Corridor Route) easier route from Seathwaite and not really too much longer. But depends entirely on where you're staying - from many places Wasdale would be a very long drive, and if you're near Windermere for instance it probably makes sense to take a longer walk in from Great Langdale. I don't think it's unsafe from any direction in good weather (navigating the summit area in very poor visibility might be a problem as no real obvious paths and some dangerous spots if lost) but it's rough underfoot at the top always.
Depending on where you're based, almost everyone in 'Outside Scotland' will have a lot of thoughts about recommended other walks for your week!
