Found this site whilst planning a trip to Skye ( my 3rd ) next week with 3 mates. Route info seems to be excellent just what is needed. Have not got the ambition or I should say fitness of some of the superstars that have posted on this site, is 25 years since I was last on The Misty Isle, have been longing for a return, but ill health ( cancer ) marriage ,kids ,work have put things off. Have always been lucky with weather in Scotland so fingers, toes, ears, legs, everything crossed for next Thurs-Sun.Will post upon return, happy mountain days everyone

Hi and welcome... glad you're getting over your serious illnesses, I'm sure you know you're doing the best thing by getting out in the great outdoors again - always beneficial to health (well, apart from joints maybe;-)

thanks canisp, hope my fitness levels are up to the demands of skye, as my mates are all former 1st team rugby players and hatefully fit.

Nice rucksack in that photo. Did you have wee badges on it, cloth ones sewn on, of places you'd been?

Now you have to go to Mr Bens, i.e. MacKays in Aberdeen for them. The Shop That Time Forgot, just across from the polis station; it stocks stuff from way back, and they never throw anything away.Clothing from the 1970s, old-style parkas and tents without groundsheets. I saw cans of dubbin in there, I swear they were from the first world war.
