I have just restarted serious hill and mountain walking after a break of 20 years at the end of last year. Most of this was done in Galloway. At the moment I am looking forward to getting any walking done as I have gone and broken my left leg, not on a hill or mountain but in my own garden, so not a good restart really to hill walking. Never mind its giving me time to do a bit of planning and working out how these GPS things work, at the moment I still find it easier to use a map

I thought I was the longest 'restarter' at 15 years.
Congrats on getting back to it and sorry to hear about your injury. Gardening is a dangerous business.
Oh, and welcome.

I don't like to harp on, but have you considered amputation at all?
