Beinn an Lochain

Finally getting round to writing up reports, so apologies for any confusion with dates etc.

Parked in layby about 2km beyond The Rest and Be Thankful summit as per WH route. Driving round, this hill looks bloody intimidating to a couple of newbies, and wasn't going to be made any easier when I discovered I'd left my boots at home. Had an old pair of CAT boots in the boot of the car, so on they went and off we went. Crossed the stream and then squelch!!! Welcome to bog territory, this was going to be no Ben Lomond!!! We squished and squelched our way through the squishy squelchy stuff until it dried out a bit a little higher up and those intimidating crags started to appear. Going was quite steep, but at least we could keep an eye on the car

As we gained height, more and more crags appeared, much to Tammys delight

A couple of wee exposed bits higher up, but nothing too bad, even for a pair of feerties like us

Don't fancy the quick descent to Loch restil!!

Views were starting to open up now as the clouds briefly broke, giving us a glimpse of Loch Fyne and Inverary to the West, the back of The Cobbler and The Brack to the Southeast, a still clag captured Beinn Ime across the a83, and Glen Kinglas to the North.

With the cloud coming down again, we pushed onto the cairned summit and then the second summit further along the ridge. Didnt hang about as there was heehaw to see

Gaiters were swiftly purchased after this walk!

All-in-all this was a great wee walk up the Ex Munro, another great hill for anyone just starting out, the path is excellent once you get past the initial boggy part before the ridge, and theres a few wee easy scrambles to get your hands dirty along the way. A great wee half day out was had.

this is up there with my best hills,a wee cracker! some minor scrambling and exposure........had the same view as yourself from the top too

Seems to be a hill like that Iain, been up it twice since this walk and summit has always been in the clouds. You're right tho, it's a great hill
