This is a horseshoe shape walk taking in Belig, Garbh-bheinn and Sgurr nan each. I have walked this route a couple of times before and it just seems to get better...Plenty of exposure with a bit of scrambling
perfect.
Was planning on heading over to Lochcarron area but the hill's appeared to have more cloud on them so thought i would stay closer to home, and i was thinking after arriving in Torrin i had made the right decision.
The walk begins on the B8083 Broadford to Torrin road, parking at the top of Loch Slapin at an old bridge.(ltd parking)
There was a chill in the air but after 10 mins crossing some boggy ground and starting the ascent the sun was feeling warm on the face.
There had been some fresh snow overnight but was restricted to higher up thankfully.
- First ascent of the day, Belig.
Gaining some height the views open up
- Looking North
- The head of Loch Slapin
- Looking up to Garbh-bheinn
- Looking over to Sgurr nan Each
- Gettin near the top of Belig
On arriving at the top of Belig and Sgurr nan Each the gods decided to drop large quantities of snow on my head, apart from these two showers and some rain a short distance from the car (thx again) the weather was kind to me.
Here you can see the first shower moving through.
Carrying on over Belig is was Garbh-bheinn that was the next target.
There are Fine views of Blavin and Clach Glas, a great way of climbing Blavin is via Sgurr nan Each then onto Clach Glas and up onto Blavin, went this way last year and was lots of fun(EXPOSURE
)
The last section up onto Garbh-bheinn is steep with some exposed bits, extra care to be taken in the snow and ice.
Cracking views from the top, makes it all worth while
- Looking back over to Belig with Beinn na caillich beyond that.
- Marsco and Glamaig
The final ascent of the day was up onto Sgurr nan Each, again great views looking over to Blavin and looking back to the main ridge.
Looking back at the descent of Garbh-bheinn
The next section is the most exposed of the day, nothing technical and all possible with out ropes but steep drops on both sides can make it abit nervy....
Looking down the steep part
After this section it is plain sailing with some steep scree coming off Sgurr nan Each.
Great set of hill's these which i will return too many times again
