Sub2k spree continues on a wet and wild West Lomond

Not working this afternoon so a quick dash to Falkland and then up to the parking and picnic area at Craigmead.

I had spent all morning looking out the windows at a glorious spring-like scene, but by the time I left the car it was grey and threatening rain, with a howling wind getting up, and before long it was driving rain and a gale force wind that was lashing across Balharvie Moss and giving me a damn good facial as I walked straight into the teeth of it.

Still, I had good reason to persevere (even if it was obvious that I was going to see hee-haw in terms of views) as I wanted to give my new boots a rigorous work out having just purchased them at the weekend from Tiso Perth. Absolute bargain - Brasher Towas half price - £120 down to £60. The guy in the shop was raving about how good a bargain it was. Being discontinued and this was the only pair left that even came close to my size! And better still, I had £40 of Tiso vouchers to spend so only £20 laid out. Result, and they certainly felt good on this wee warm up (although technically there was nothing remotely warm about it whatsoever ).

I had thought about possibly continuing on to Bishop Hill but hey, what's the point in these conditions man and when you can barely stand upright at the summit, let alone point a camera in a straight line at the clag! It can wait. Get back home and dry the gear off!

Cheers Red Peak. Yeah, Lucy was present - just managed to evade the lens, that's all. And to be honest, I couldn't be much arsed with photography given the conditions.

I got the same one's before Christmas for £75 (I also had £40 in vouchers). Like you say great value, I've had them out in the snow the last couple of months and they've been great - comfy and super toasty.

West Lomond is a great wee hill, although I did lose my worn-twice paclite trousers up there somewhere.

Looked not bad at the start and it also looks a lot more than 200m ascent.

Hi Graeme. The weather was bad on tuesday. I went down to Moffat to go up the side of the gray mere's tail & on to a couple of hills around there, but i couldn't even see the waterfall

Graeme, I can't be absolutely certain from the pic but the boots look the same as mine. I got them form Tiso in Sept for £60. Have been excellent so far, very comfortable, good grip and good waterproofing.
