After completing Little Mell Fell we drove the short distance to Great Mell Fell. This time the little ones made it halfway,by the time we arrived at Great Mell Fell it was far too hot for them.
Leaving the the rest of the gang in the shade I walked the rest of the way.Great Mell Fell is more interesting than it's smaller neighbour because it has some trees on the lower flanks and some very wind swept trees higher up.
Warning
Please note that hillwalking when there is snow lying requires an ice-axe, crampons and the knowledge, experience and skill to use them correctly. Summer routes may not be viable or appropriate in winter. See winter information on our skills and safety pages for more information.
