Ben Vorlich & Stuc a'Chroin

It was with nervous excitement that I left Alexandria to pick up my old workmate John in Glasgow. Got to the parking area on the South side of Loch Earn for 9.30, and were on our way for 9.40. The mist was down, and could barely see the loch next to us, never mind Ben Vorlich, but wasnt too long before we were above it and got our first glimpse of our first target of the day, and a nice wee inversion over the loch

Good easy path all the way to summit of Vorlich, and we were at the trig in under two hours, which was a nice surprise.

Now the nerves were starting to kick in as our eyes focused towards Stuc a'Chroin, and more importantly, the prow which we were going to have a go at scrambling up. It didnt look TOO bad from the safe distance of Vorlich, but as we descended to the bealach then headed towards it, it was looking more and more daunting

Crossed a small boulder field to begin with, then started picking our way up throughthe rocks, the route through was easier to follow than we first thought, with only one or two trickier bits for a short a*%e like me. Was actually great fun, and cant wait til Mrs Walkers is back to full fitness and I can get another shot!

Final scramble

From the top of the scramble it was a straightforward walk of around 0.5km to the 2 summit cairns. A few snaps, including a lovely wee lochan, then the long walk back to the car, very boggy in places, and quite steep and loose as it descends to the bealach, path then countours around Ben Vorlich before meeting up with the ascent path

All in all a great walk on a beautiful day, brilliant views even if it was rather hazy, heres hoping for more days like this!!

Excellent walk. Nice pictures of the scramble. Shame about the mist but you did get a nice inversion.
