Time for new territory and Glen Affric here we come. Made it to the pub in Cannich many moons ago.......

Glen Affric
DSCN0350.JPG
A bonnie forest track
DSCN0358.JPG
Well worth a dodge off the track for a fine angle on what lies ahead.
DSCN0368.JPG
Now up out of the glen and starting the southeast approach.
DSCN0378.JPG
What I think is a finger print for Tom a'Choinich.
DSCN0385.JPG
Gaining height, April snow remains and I'm falling behind Valerie, hope she knows where she's going? Because I'm stopping soon for a coffee!
DSCN0388.JPG
Wow! What a spot for a snack and a chance to take in respect for new surroundings.
DSCN0390.JPG
Would have been interesting here 6 weeks ago!
DSCN0392.JPG
A view up Gleann nam Fiadh, future plans......
DSCN0397.JPG
More wows, how's this snow holding on.....
DSCN0408.JPG
A hint of plateau appears and provides a fine stroll.
DSCN0409.JPG
Views towards Carn Eighe and Mam Sodhail.
DSCN0412.JPG
A great view back from whence we came, so lucky!
DSCN0417.JPG
The summit! And so rewarding!
DSCN0420.JPG
Now thinking of Toll Creagach, Tom a'Choinich has been so focused on our minds up till now!
DSCN0422.JPG
A slightly awkward descent close to the summit, as snow had covered the normal path.
DSCN0430.JPG
I reckon we have 100+ deer below!
DSCN0441.JPG
A bonnie ptarmigan, and friendly too!
DSCN0448.JPG
I always enjoy my lochan shots.
DSCN0449.JPG
A rare view of the west end of Loch Mallardoch!
DSCN0452.JPG
Two summits, a large cairn and a the trig point - which is the top? We went to both and chilled out!
DSCN0455.JPG
My 75th Munro, though not a pure "bagger" felt great! Been up many several times...heeeehee
DSCN0456.JPG
A very interesting drop over fun and sculptured ledges, decided to keep due south and revisit the approach track near our earlier falls.
DSCN0460.JPG
What a day, with a fine view back to Tom a'Choinich.

Thanks for sharing your pics, I love Glen Affric and it's a while since I was up there, so to see your great pics has been a good reminder of how nice it is. The first time I climbed these two was in 1994, after Sgur na Lapaich, and Mam Sodhail and Carn Eighe on a perfect July day. A couple of years later I was in the area on 6th March and had a wander up Tom a' Choinnich and there was less snow then than on your photos.

Gleann nam Fiadh, with Sgur na Lapaich, Mam Sodhail and Tom a' Choinnich 3rd March 1996

I've only been low level in Glen Affric but these 2 look a great intro to the high hills. Great pics and read :D .

Great pictures on what looks like a great day for the hills! I'm glad to see that you did get your coffee, Bod - and what a view you must have had. The shot looking up the ridge of Tom a'Choinich - with Valerie in the foreground - really captures the atmosphere of the place. Thanks for sharing. 8)
