After the excitement of the
day before I felt a nice quiet stroll with Mez was in order. Having gotten up quite late (and no, I wasn’t squiffyfied from the night before) I headed off towards Braemar to walk Loch Callater. Firstly, I needed food from the local shop (Gingsters Meat feast slice).
Weather was fabulous again, a little less hazy perhaps and certainly very warm.
Parked up in the car park at Auchallater, which was busy and paid my fee.

Getting hungry now so I wolfed down my Gingsters Meat feast as I walked towards the far end of the loch, closely followed by a swarm of flying crawlies. Once at the far end, I stopped to enjoy the quiet.
Walked as far as we could as the path disappears into the water. Would have liked to have walked over onto Jock’s Road and gone all the way around the Loch but I would’ve needed a raft.
View up Glen Callater (Morrone in the distance – can you believe some egit was up that hill in a gale the other week...)

It was quite a peaceful place. But something was happening in my belly.
Was it the dozen crawlies in the meat feast?
The meat feast slice didn’t come with the warning that you needed the constitution of a goat..... So I walked most of the way home eructing plumes of green gas that would have made the Grinch proud.
Headed for home (Mez staying well clear)
What a pretty place Loch Callater is. A very worthy walk if you’re ever in this area.
Me...? I would drive the 100 miles round trip to visit here again. Acquire better food though, the gaseous noise might spoil one’s tranquillity.
