Well, i haven't posted on here for a while but i had such a good day today i thought i should share it with you all.
I decided to do The Fara but i really didn't fancy the way in the book so i parked on the A889 just past Dalwhinnie and followed a good track up through the forest to a locked deer gate at 1900 ft

Clambered over the gate, not very elegant but there was no one for miles and straight up the pathless hill, over the dry bog (happy days) and picked up the old wall straight to the summit and a view to rival any other anywhere!

Only 1 hr 10 to the summit and i wondered what to do next so my eye spotted meall nan eagan and off i went, down the ridge, dropping down before the cliffs of the Dirc Mhor

then across and sat by the wee loch in the sunshine admiring the little dirc

Then contoured round and found my way surprisingly easily up Meall Nan Eagan and more stunning views from the summit

, then steeply at first down by the old fence ansd across more dry bog and picked up the path, below the house, past a gang of stags and out to the A889 a few hundred yards above the car.
A really lovely and unexpected, (make it up from the map as i went along with the added bonus of the wee lochan and the dircs) day out,
Thanks for listening, hope the pictures come out ok, haven't done that bit before, Cheers
Julie

The Dircs are FAB and it was a really good circuit, all the better for being unexpected!

Me too :D

Just need to say it less and get on with it - that's my problem

Nice report - this area has had quite a few reports recently, each time making me more determined to get there this year 8)

Got these two planned for tomorrow (including the Fara ridge walk along to Ben Alder Lodge) along with my mate skyepilot2. These pictures will keep me awake all night now! Hope the showers stay a safe distance away! :?
