Moel Siabod In Poppiesraras footprints (well kinda)

Since moving to Wales this Mountain was the first I'd laid my eyes on as I cycled to Betws for work the first time I was blown away at this Shark fin popping out above the valley.
so with a break in the weather I thought I'd take my family for a walk up Moel Siabod from Pont Cyfyng.

the first section was a good paved path that quickly turned into a land rover track and then over to a lovely Plateau with Views to the Southern and Eastern Carneddau and the Glyders

we intended on heading up the N ridge and then descending by the same route but we just followed the tourist path up the hill and found ourselves on the quarry side and decided to go up the SE ridge but we were reluctant as we had our Daughter with us so we were not up for down climbing the SE ridge at all.

we had a nice wander off path around Llyn Y Foel before heading up the SE ridge.

so my wife was raging with me at this point as she's never been on a scramble and I had our 18 month old daughter on my back so we had to be careful. I was just hoping that my wife would enjoy her first ever scramble but she was to concerned about the baby to enjoy so I did easy route finding and she followed reluctantly.

the walkers above looked like they were having a hard time with this section so we went to the left of this pointy boulder.

starting to get tired now and glad that the climbing is over, Summit is reached and picnic was had the Summit shelter was welcomed as the wind was picking up and with more high winds due Thursday they were starting to come in.

after a pleasant walk down with the wind picking up and the clouds coming in the Highway was welcomed and we had a whole 3 minutes to wait for or bus.

Nice report MacKenzie, and great views. Looks like this part of Wales missed all the rain recently if you only did this yesterday.

Great stuff, Mackenzie, and some terrific pics & views. Now I can see how it should have looked (the ascent ridge looks especially fine - and quite daunting - when you can see it all the way up from below), I rather feel the urge to go back again!

Handy report, as intend going up here next Friday. Was checking out routes and whatnot. Feel the scramble could be just what we need, as it's Tryfan the following day. Be good practise I feel. Nice one.
