A short distance after leaving the car i picked up a path that is or joins the Alladale Ramble which passes north of Castle Crag.

A steep but short ascent brought me to a flatter area followed by a less steep ascent to the summit. The views were stunning and of the two hours i spent on the summit most of it was sat looking north to Skiddaw.
