Mount Keen from Glen Muick - and the sunset was lovely

After walking round the Lochnagar munros and Conachcraig earlier in the day, I’d had my dinner and decided to walk over to Mount Keen in the evening. I had planned to do it on the Sunday instead but the forecast for that day was pretty grim whereas the weather had now improved a lot and the sun was out.

Checked that I had head and hand torches with me and emergency supplies just in case as I was very unlikely to get back before dark.

Left the car at 329889 and set off on the bike up the landrover track. This seemed like a good idea at the start but had to get off several times and push (walking boots and flat pedals are no match for SPDs !).

Headed up the track and went past a wooden shed.

They tend to look similar in some ways but judging by the colour more likely ptarmigan I reckon - my moving pictures are too blurred to see properly

You are super fit. I did the Lochnagar round from Loch Muick car park and slept in the car overnight. I then went direct from the car park to Mount Keen the next day. I was in peat bog most of the way and only saw Mount Keen when I was practically upon it. It was a hard day. To do both walks on the same day is mind bogling. Good on you for a fantastic effort.

It's a shameful marker of my bad habit of skimming the text of reports (and looking at the pics) that I didn't actually clock you'd done this on the same day.

That is a remarkable effort in one sitting rockhopper, nice sunset as a reward and I can see your thinking about getting it in before the rain but ....god damn that's a lot to do in a day

I've been trying out a wee bit of post production on one or two photos, eg the HDR in another report but still have a way to go

Nice photos and an interestingly different route, even if it seemed like a bit of a bog at the time . Had considered approaching from Loch Muick once as I fancied visiting the Shielin of Mark, but never got round to it. This route hadn't even entered my head.
