We took the bus from Brodick to Whiting Bay and found the beginning of the walk quite easily. Once it gets into the woodlands though it is less straightforward and sometimes the track isn't entirely clear. It does though lead to a viewpoint overlooking the falls. A lot of trees and shrubs have grown up near this viewpoint since it was first established and the views aren't as good as they once were, though a passing family who obviously know the walk well, directed us down the slope where we could get a good view.
We then followed the signs to the Iron Age fort, which is high up in the woods, on a rocky outcrop with the land falling away on a large part of the perimeter. It was obviously a well defended settlement in its time and now is a pleasant open area which catches the sun.

Continuing on from the fort we followed the path to the falls. The path offers some views of the falls and eventually took us right up to them. We walked to the top of the falls and onto the rocky area behind the falls. On one side here, the land falls away and the water gushes over the edge.

Turn round and you're in a wonderful tranquil spot, which would be ideal for a picnic if it wasn't for all the midges.

We moved on from here and followed the path to the main viewing platform that hangs over the river and offers the most spectacular views of the falls.

From there it's a pleasant, though often steep walk through woodland back to Whiting Bay.
