Some day"s you just know you it"s going to be your day,all the days walking in the rain,snow,wind,and my constant friend "the clag",make days like this all the more special,this day was going to be a great day.
Alan and I were parked up and on our way by 8.00am,with the views already stunning.

Followed the WH route down over the wooden bridge & over the river Coe,and started climbing up between Gear Aonach & Aonach Dubh,where the views over to Aonach Eagach were amazing

.Started the climb up into the corrie along side the burn & some nice waterfalls

At this point the sun was hidden behind Gear Aonach,but further up the corrie the bulk of Stob Coire nan Lochan was basking in glorious sunshine.

Alan & I made good time climbing up beside the wee burn,with the sun beating down on the climbers paradise of Aonach Dubh

Soon the the climbing took us out of the shadow and started taking its toll on my shaven head,but we new there was a solution to the heat of the sun not to far away

After a cooling drench I was explaing to Alan that somewhere up here there was a wee "howf"according to Cameron McNeishs 100 best waks book,could not belive our luck when Alan said could that be what your looking for there

Anyway onwards & upwards,heading towards the bowl of Stob Coire nan Lochan,where a wee rest was taken & a great view back down to the road & across to Aonach Eagach

This is where wee had a choice to make,bear round to your right & climb the easy slopes to the summit,or attack Stob Coire nan Lochan head on

There is a path of sorts on the climb,& once you gain the ridge the going is fairly easy,with one or two scrambling moves,but soon you are on the summit of Stob Coire nan Lochan,where the views are spectacular

Took a 20min break here to soak in the views & refuel,before we headed along the ridge to Stob Coire Sgreamhach,where the views again were brilliant again

After having the top to ourselves for 10/15 min it became realy busy,so we dragged ourselves back down to the bealach,and made our way down into the Lost Valley & the road home

Got back to the car after 7 hrs,totally done in with the heat & sun,but did not have a care in the world because I just had one amazing day.

After reading your title, I was expecting the search and rescue helicopter to turn up. It was only when I got to the end I realised you must have meant the sun! Can it be seen from Scottish hills then?

What a fab day to be on Bidean, jammy gits

I did this in winter and we couldnt get down to the lost valley from the bealach due to cornices. We had to retrace our steps back nan lochan. Winter walkers beware.

Have done this in summer, fab walk.

Nice one gammy. Kev and I also saw that big yellow apparition in the skies over Glenfinnan at the weekend! Clag magnet you might normally be, but you broke the curse with this one. When I did these two a couple of years back, it was wall to wall clag, and that being the day after an absolute scorcher on Starav. Like the head dipping shots too - I think I can see steam coming off the water around Alan's bonce!

we chose the more difficult route too, walked up as far as the lochans, then took the ridge on the left, which followed to stob coire nan lochan. nice rocky route
about the 'red scree' bit down, it's actually much easier when you descent on the rocks just on the right hand side from the red gully.
looking at the pics i still cant believe we actually went down this way (looks like vertical wall basically) and we're still in one piece
