A great report! We are heading to the Cairgorms this weekend and you have managed to get me even more excited about the trip! We are not as hardcore as you but I will remember your mammoth walk when I am struggling!

Good trip csimbad - just back from holiday this area with some reports to do and must've missed you by only a few days ! I can vouch for the midges - when the wind dropped there were clouds of them everyhwere

Excellent report & piccies there csimbad.

A bit worrying to hear about midges on the peaks - this is the second report I've come across this week that mentions this trend. Looks like the poor summer is boosting their numbers. My last outing was a few weeks ago in this area (Bienn Bhrotain) was free of the blighters - but them I did have 40mph winds!
