Approaching the end of our holiday in Coylumbridge, we had a few hours to spare on the penultimate day. Our boys were off playing tennis and golf so we headed up to Glenmore.
My wife and I hadn’t gone hillwalking together since mid August 2010 when we were up The Cobbler – this was when I got the hillwalking bug back again.
Parked at the visitor centre and took the easy track up past Glenmore Lodge. We’d walked the hillier track up to the green loch the previous week with the boys.
Got to An Lochan Uaine (the green loch)
View south down Ryvoan Pass
Then on to Ryvoan Bothy. Quite a few people here and the midges were out so we headed west up the track.
Views opening up east and north
Further views to Bynack More and Cairngorm
Followed the track all the way to the top and met a few more walkers. Windy and cold at this point as we’d been sheltered coming up from the east. No midges though !
View down to Loch Morlich
Summit cairn
Stopped for some time and had some refreshments then headed off eastwards. The track does go on over to Creagan Gorm and Craiggowrie but we decided just to head back to the car through the forest.
Overall, a nice short walk which would have some great views on a clear day.
