Route Day 2 (Glyderau):
We left Ogwen Cottage at about 9am and climbed to Llyn Idwal:
Climbing the steep north east slope of Y Garn we soon sauntered into thick cloud (which was forecast to clear, but never did!) and poor visibility:
At the top we met two campers who had lost their orientation in the mist coming up from Nant Peris and thought they were on Foel Goch, nearly 2km north. We led them down to Llyn y Cwn which was looking rather spooky in the fog. They diverted down the Devil's Kitchen while we headed on to Glyder Fawr.

The disappointing weather forced us to focus on the immediate landscape which was still pretty special, with boulders and rocky outcrops everwhere. We paused for lunch at the top before a pleasing short scramble over Castell y Gwynt and onto Glyder Fach and the Cantilever Stone:
After descending for a couple of hundred metres we soon emerged out of the cloud to misty views of the route ahead: Llyn Caseg-fraith and Y Foel Goch.
From Llyn Caseg-fraith Tryfan was visible, capped with cloud:
An easy descent along a broad ridge took us to Cefn y Capel above Capel Curig:
Where the sheep were pleasingly compliant with my photographic whims!

The rest of the route was relatively low level, winding past Crimpiau and into the Crafnant valley:
Llyn Crafnant:
A very satisfying two day circular walk, topped by another meal in the Old Ship Inn, Trefriw.
The next morning before the train home from Llanrwst:
