Big Bens little sister

I'd originally planned to do this walk up the track through the Strathgarve Forest as Claire would be with us but found out walkers were not welcome in this area. So we started at the Ben Wyvis car park, taking the same path as you do for Ben Wyvis. This is a good path but unfortunately you have to leave it once you come out the forest, where you cross the stream and take to the wet,soggy,muddy & boggy slopes to Little Wyvis, following the fence line of the forest. The terrain doesn't improve until you're on the ridge where it then becomes a 1km stroll to the summit. After reaching the summit we returned by the same route and it was just as bad on the way down as up but once on the path it was a relief.

nice walk and nice to see that Claire is still out and about

Sometimes in the photos she looks as if she enjoys herself, feel sure she will one day "get it" and want to do more walks and longer ones too

Thanks Morag, Claire does quite enjoy it and it wasn't a great day with heavy rain and boggy underfoot. She's got new boots waiting to be broken in so more walks to come hopefully

Nice wee hill the Little Ben It's often overlooked as most walkers rush up the big brother... We climbed it a couple of years ago in winter conditions - plenty of snow, blue sky, great fun and a good ground for testing new crampons.

Looks to be some cracking views from up there JC, I've not been out that way yet though had my eye on Ben Wyvis for a while
