Mull's Corbett in great weather

After a four year absence we returned to Mull to be rewarded with some wonderful weather. With Sunday's forecast close to perfect we got straight to the walking with an accent of Dun da Ghaoithe. After driving up the steep track I initially parked the car on the grassy verge only to be approached by the owner of the b'n'b. He politely pointed out a parking area through a gate on the right of the road just after it levels off. So car moved, we set off on what was a breathtaking morning.

This route up the hill is definitely a walk of two halves with the bulk of the accent up the stony track to the radio masts. Walking up what is effectively a steep stony lane may not be to everybody's taste but the views back towards the mainland more than make up for it.

A bit of a trudge with plenty of stopping to turn around and admire the views is eventually rewarded with a sight of the whole ridge.

It is somewhat of a relief when the second set of masts and buildings is reached so you can strike out over the open hillside.

The way steepens on the way up Mainnir nam Fiadh and the ridge becomes nicely defined.

The walk to the summit along the ridge is a joy from here with great views all around the compass.

The return journey is no hardship and even the track on the way down, given the views are ahead of you, is quite enjoyable. All in all a great day out.
