A fine day on Ben Chonzie

As in line with most of the reports I found this hill anything but boring. For someone looking for a relatively easy walk with a gradual ascent then Ben Chonzie certainly fits the bill. Its certainly nothing like any of the Monros I've climbed so far with its large flat summit with multiple cairns dotted here and there, ( Can anyone tell me why so many cairns?).

After the previous two weeks walking over pretty heavy ground its was a pleaseant change to be walking up a decent path. As described in WH the walk starts off on a well defined road leading onto a pathway.

Surprisingly the hill was realatively quiet for most of our walk, we only met one guy at the summit who had come up from the creiff end stating that the walk up from Invergeldie was boring, (each to their own I suppose).

As with most of my walks since taking up hill walking this year we were fortunate to have decent weather for most of the walk.

I think the pro- Chonzie camp maybe getting ahead here.
Looks like you had a really nice walk on a good clear day, well done.

I agree, Pro-Chonzie all the way.
Ideal "starter hill", and anything but boring. Boring is a refelction on yourself, in my book.
This was my eldests 2nd Munro.
We had a blast when we did it, but we did great weather.
Good weather always helps.

I think the kinder description is that the route up along side Loch turret is the more scenic of the two, if slightly longer. The summit views are great due to the hills location and clearly they are the same whichever way you climb the hill...it comes down to whether you are an approach person or a summit view person...

myself, i do favour the loch turret approach, recognising that the other approach is easier and shorter so is not without merit!
