After yesterdays easy walk i decided to do something a bit more challenging today, so the first thing i done this morning was check the forecast and the place to be today was to be Skye, sunny skies were to be the order of the day so got showered and had breakfast got the gear together and headed for the bridge via the wee outdoor shop in Dornie to buy the required map, a great scenic drive up with a quick stop for coffee in Portree then onwards to the start of the walk.
- The start at a little parking spot just down from a waterfall, once through the gate its best to head away to the right until you get onto slightly higher ground then switch back making for the entrance to the little gully, if you go direct from the gate to the Bealach there's a good chance you'll get wet feet.
- Once you get to the bottom of the gully just head straight up until you come to a good track heading off to the left, follow this all the way as it widens and leads up through the Bealach.
- Now turn right and head along the top of the crags, there is old metal fence posts to keep you right but on a clear day like today navigation was not a problem, bear in mind that the fence line does go dangerously close to the edge at times.
- I can just about spot the car.
- Looking back to Ben Dearg.
- Pano down to Loch Leathan.
- Looking down on Lochan a Bhealaich Bhig.
- The final push.
- Time for another breather and photo.
- Nearly there.
- At last, at the top.
- Trotternish ridge all the way to the Quirang.
- Just love the easy to use pano system on the new camera.
- Hartaval......now at this point a wee voice in my head was saying go on head on over it won't take long, but i still had my lunch to get and there was a small matter of a football match tonight as well (which i'm trying to watch while writing this report) so i'm sorry Hartaval not this time, but i'll be back next year and thats a promise.
- And so time for lunch, then it's just a case of heading back the way i came.
- But not before one more pano.........sorry just couldn't resist it.
