The Most Panoramic of Mountains

Corbetts: Beinn Enaiglair

Date walked: 12/05/2019

Time taken: 4.3 hours

Distance: 7km

Ascent: 710m

This was the last of a bunch of Corbetts in the Ullapool area and I decided to climb Beinn Enaiglair on my way back to Inverness and I'm so glad I did.

The route in from the car park at Braemore Junction was quite dry and easy with the lack of rain. From the loch, the track seemed to go too far west so I cut the corner and skirted round the bottom of Meal Doire Faid to the bealach south of Enaiglair.

It was then quite a steep pull up to the summit but it was worth it. The view was stunning in all directions. Sadly the attached pictures don't do it justice as my shabby camera needs replacing. You could see from Ben Loyal in the north down past Stac Polly to Torridon and round to the Cairngorms in the east which were fully covered in snow.

It was the most panoramic view I have ever seen and I didn't want to leave. After lunch I thought I would grab a bit of shut eye for a few minutes before going down but I must have fallen sound asleep as I woke with a bit of a start when a fellow climber arrived to take in the view. We both agreed that it was a pretty stunning view and after a wee chat I headed (reluctantly) down the hill and back to reality. I must do it again soon with a better camera
