Balmoral Cairns
Route: The Balmoral Cairns, Balmoral, Crathie
Date walked: 24/09/2011
Time taken: 3 hours
Distance: 9.75km
This walk was very enjoyable without being in the slightest way taxing. The Queen was in residence but we were told that we should do the walk anyway but that we may be asked to leave the estate if we encountered any police officers, I am glad to say that we did not and had a very pleasant few hours.
Some of the cairns are amazing and quite large. A few have to be searched for others you just stumble upon. We found a lovely spot for lunch with a great view of Lochnagar.
This would be a good walk on a windy day as you get lots of protection from being in the woods most of the time but still retaining great views.
