A cold damp day when we started and that was the theme for the rest of the day. The route onto the first munro (Sgorr Dhearg) was the direct route S/W of Ballahulish. A steep ridge towering into the thick grey cloud. :( :wtf:

The assent up this ridge is a long affair but is also a fantastic one. Due to the near white out conditions we were quite cautious as the ridge narrowed quite considerably the further up we went. I was joined on this walk by Rab, Stevie, Dickie and a chap Shirkie from Cumnock who is a top notch mountaineer. At the summit we were barely able to see 10ft as the conditions deteriorated and the wind increased, it really was arctic conditions. :(

Approaching the summit of Sgorr Dhearg

We huddled together on the summit sheltering from the severe wind chill, it was strange because the wind would often gust really strong one minute and then stop completely the next. We took advantage of these calm periods (short lived as they were) to talk and have a bite to eat. At one point we could just make out a peak above the clouds, I tried to take a photograph but it was gone before I could get the camera out my rucksack

After navigating our way to the next summit (Sgorr Dhonuill ) in whiteout conditions we arrived cold and tired. It really was a whiteout here so we didn't hang around. The walk down seemed to take forever, probably because we were so tired due to the relentless waking in deep snow. Darkness was creeping upon as fast as we reached the tree line. I took one last photograph of Loch Leven and the Pap of Glencoe with my cheap film camera before we entered the darkness of the pine forest. The sight of the car was a welcome one.
