Fantastic day climbing in the Moffat Hills, weather great (sun burned neck in April!?)
Start in the national trust car park then quickly ascend via well maintained path overlooking the waterfall
Path then levels and fairly quickly Loch Skeen is reached. lots of great photo opportunities here.
I think the best path skirts to the right of the wee lochan but we kept to the left and joined the fence a bit further on. Little boggy
I found the ascent up Lochcraig Head a bit of a lung burster, hopefully my fitness will grow through the spring/summer after a winter on my backside...
Quick descent from west shoulder of Lochcraig Head then back up to the ridge again, after that it's a mainly flat and pleasant stroll to White Coomb.
Highest point of the day
Descent from White Coomb is great fun with some very minor hands on scrambling.
After that it's a matter of following the dyke wall down and picking your spot to cross the burn, lots of boulders to assist. Wouldn't fancy it in spate though
To close we retraced steps to car, great to see lots of day trippers going to see the waterfalls
