Perfect Pentland Pearls

Sub 2000s: Allermuir Hill

Date walked: 12/03/2014

Time taken: 3 hours

Distance: 6.5km

A little alliteration always helps!
Sometimes you overlook as unworthy the familiar things you see most days.
We found this to be the case in our first foray into the nearby Pentland hills. Whether it was the scenery or the long overdue clear sunny days or both, we thoroughly enjoyed our outing today on Allermuir Hill.
The weather and views were added to by the friendly people we encountered, so much so that a quick walk turned out to be a lot longer than expected due to the blethering taking place on the well used paths.
We parked at the ski slope car park just of the main road and were soon on the hill looking back at the views over the Forth Valley and taking numerous pictures as we're most of the people there!
Coincidently we met two separate English chaps who both had the same camera as us and told us the same story an hour apart of how they had been up here on the exact same day last year and it was snow covered! Freaky or what.... Is there a glitch in the Matrix?
Anyway enough waffle, once on top of the hill the hidden pearls, the rest of the Pentland Hills which lie unseen from the ring road, come into view and although small in stature look like they could provide a challenging traverse.
I for one will certainly revisit these hidden gems, hopefully on a similar sunny day.
