First report on here. I've been using this site an essential resource for route planning. Thought it was about time I contributed as I've done some unusual routes. This ones from a few months ago, so sorry for lack of detail.

In 2018 my friend and I attempted the Lochnagar circuit, but only made it to Broad Cairn (going clockwise) due to driving rain. Having both done Lochnagar itself years previously, we didn't really want to do the slightly boring walk in and walk past Munros we've already done. We also wanted to tackle some of the Munros around Glenshee. We therefor decided on a route from Glenshee to get all seven.

Originally we had planned to do it over the summer to take advantage of the longer days, however with a lack of snow on the ground for some reason we decided to do in in January instead.

Anyway, we parked at the car park just north of the ski centre at around 7am in the dark. Head torches on, we set our sights for our first Munro Carn an Turc. The going was pretty good and as the sun came up we made it to the summit where we were welcomed by very thick fog.

Sadly the fog was to be a big feature for the next 10 hours or so and made navigation a bit tricky. But we persevered and managed to get through the day without incident.

The light, and our moral, quickly diminished on approach to our final munro, Cairn of Claise, and we summited in complete darkness. Our descent was then a real test of both navigation and simply keeping our cool. I know the area really well from ski touring there, but with the thick fog, zero light and little energy, it was one of the most testing situations I've experienced.

Thankfully, after only a few deviations we found the path that would lead us back to the car in not too much time and within around 90 minutes we had that amazing feeling of getting into the car after a very long day,

Sadly I only have a few photos from the day as only around 30 minutes from the 11.5 hours were worthy of taking the camera out.
