Heads in the Clouds Ben Lawers & Beinn Ghlas

Munros: Beinn Ghlas, Ben Lawers

Date walked: 17/05/2017

Time taken: 4 hours

Distance: 10.5km

Feel free to check out the video, but if not the report is below...

So it was a sunny day (finally) and with uni exams well and truly over we thought we'd squeeze in a couple of munros before heading to Thailand.

We got up at 4:30am and began the long 2.5hr drive down to Loch Tay. We arrived with only 1 other car in the car park and set off at 8am.

The sun was out with patches of cloud but it was warm enough for light fleeces at the bottom.

We set off at a leisurely pace taking in the views, and soon we got our first look at Beinn Ghlas

We rose over a few bumps on it's shoulder but nothing too steep

At this point the wind was picking up and moving some clouds over so we put on our jackets

We got to the summit of Beinn Ghlas and were surrounded in mist, we also for the first time ever forgot to take summit photos :( but we got it on video so it still counts...

We dipped into the bealach and sat down for some lunch, looking over at Ben Lawers covered in mist.

The climb up Ben Lawers was steep but if you pace yourself you can make quick work of it.

Overly dramatic summit photos as usual, despite the lack of views

We got back down to the car park quickly, a bit less than an hour. Despite the weather it was a nice enjoyable hike and the lovely older couple who we met on the way back down congratulating us on finishing the two was really nice :D
